Principal & Founder
John MacKay founded Lumen Solutions to bring a high-finance perspective to the energy efficiency sector. With a background in trading and supplying energy across North America, John is widely recognized as an expert in Ontario’s electricity markets, possessing a rare understanding of energy dynamics at both the wholesale and retail levels.
Prior to founding Lumen, John spent years at RBC Capital Markets, where he launched and led an energy risk management business focused on mitigating energy price volatility for Ontario-based organizations. His approach to lighting is rooted in this legacy of risk mitigation—treating energy efficiency as a tool for financial stability.
John holds an MBA in Finance and carries the prestigious Energy Risk Professional (ERP) designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).
